Two landmine explosions in Balochistan’s Duki killed one and injured 18 people, including a Counter Terrorism Department official, on Thursday, police said.

The first blast occurred when the coal-laden truck was crossing while the second blast occurred when the people gathered at the site of the explosion, SHO Jalil Ahmed Mari said.

He added that Duki Press Club President Allah Noor Nasir survived the blasts. He reached the site to cover the blasts.

All the casualties have been shifted to the civil hospital.

Allah Wadahyo, the truck driver, said that the explosion occurred when he returned to the mine to load coals. Initially, he thought it was a tyre burst as the explosion broke his vehicle’s window.

He added that at least five men sitting on the bumper of his vehicle also survived.

Last month, 12 miners were killed and eight rescued after an explosion in a coal mine in the Zardalo area of Balochistan’s Harnai district.

It was reported that 18 miners were trapped after a big portion of the mine caved in when a powerful explosion took place.

He said that 20 miners had been inside the mine when a methane gas explosion took place overnight. He added that rescue teams recovered 12 bodies while the survivors had been taken to hospital.
