Following the US withdrawal from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Israel has also decided to halt its participation.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar supported Trump’s move, calling it a “step in the right direction” and criticising the UNHRC for protecting human rights abusers while unfairly targeting Israel and spreading antisemitism.

He highlighted that Israel has faced over 100 condemnatory resolutions, more than Iran, Cuba, North Korea, and Venezuela combined.

US President Donald Trump announced America’s departure from the UNHRC and the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) during a joint press conference with Israeli PM Netanyahu.

He criticised the UNRWA for alleged links to Hamas and emphasised restoring maximum pressure on Iran, including aggressive sanctions.

Israeli PM Netanyahu, who arrived in the US on Sunday, is discussing the Gaza ceasefire and Middle East plans with Trump and US officials.

Trump reaffirmed the “unbreakable” bonds of friendship between the US and Israel during the joint conference.
