On Friday, the customs clearance agents, transporters, and merchants held a second day of a protest sit-in at Torkham to urge for the adoption of their demands.

The demonstrators claimed that needless obstacles to the free flow of bilateral commerce with Afghanistan were the reason for the initiation of the sit-in.

They called for expedited customs clearance procedures, manual clearance of transit goods from Afghanistan, exemption of vehicles carrying multiple retail items from Pakistan to Afghanistan from inspection, long-term repair of the electronic scanning machine, and better control of vehicle traffic at the border.

If their demands were not granted right away, they threatened to halt clearing all exports and imports of products.
