The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has announced a protest demonstration on December 10 to coincide with International Human Rights Day, as the group’s continuous sit-in against enforced disappearances in Balochistan entered its 6,023rd day in front of the Quetta Press Club.

In a statement issued on Monday, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch condemned what he the escalating scale of enforced disappearances and unconstitutional actions carried out under the pretext of national security.

He alleged that not only men but Baloch women are now being forcibly disappeared, and that mutilated bodies of missing persons are increasingly being found in Balochistan.

Baloch also criticized the detention of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), saying they are being held merely for speaking out against constitutional violations and advocating for the rights of the Baloch people. He described their imprisonment as a serious breach of fundamental human rights.

Announcing a peaceful demonstration, Nasrullah Baloch said VBMP will hold a protest at 2 PM on December 10 outside the Quetta Press Club. The protest, he said, aims to highlight extrajudicial practices, enforced disappearances and other human rights abuses faced by families across the Balochistan.

He appealed to political parties, student organizations and the wider Baloch nation to participate in large numbers and help amplify the call for justice and accountability.

VBMP’s protest camp, one of the longest-running human rights sit-ins in South Asia, represents thousands of families seeking information about the fate and whereabouts of their missing loved ones. As Human Rights Day approaches, activists say the issue remains one of the gravest and most persistent human rights concerns in Balochistan.
